A little bit about me....
Hello and thank you for visiting my website.
Based in Stockport in the UK, I am a Textile & Surface Pattern Designer with over 14 years experience in the textile & wallcovering industry. I currently work with companies on a freelance basis as well as working on my own designs and establishing the ‘Jojo Coco Design’ brand. I am experienced in and use the following software to create my designs; Adobe Photoshop, Adobe illustrator and the specialized software for this industry AVA.
I love everything patterned and fun and would describe my style as quirky, fresh & contemporary. I specialise in creating inspirational and imaginative designs for kids, adults and the home but I am always keen to use my creative skills and explore other product areas too.
So, what inspires me, where do my ideas come from and how do I work?
I start by hand drawing a lot of my designs and then I create interesting layouts combining them with texture, pattern and colour to create my own unique style. I love creating stories around my designs. I design from the heart and I really hope this is reflected in my work.
Being a creative soul I am always looking for new inspiration and I find a lot of this within nature and the world around me, you can probably guess this from my designs!? The changing seasons and patterns fascinate me and I am forever taking photographs wherever I go. Another big passion of mine is creating fun characters and designs for nursery & children’s ranges. You would be amazed at how and when some of my ideas are dreamt up! I have to grab the nearest piece of paper and scribble it down straight away (I have a file that’s full of scribbles, waiting to be explored and designed!)
I would love to hear from you if you are interested in purchasing my designs, commissioning me or for any license opportunities.
I like the idea of a design being for life, about who you are, your lifestyle.
A design or pattern can instantly bring a smile to your face, It could be a
pattern on something you wear that put’s an extra spring in your step, a
cushion you snuggle into after a hard days work, or on a mug you use
when your friend pops in a for a cup of tea.
It’s those little details that can help make your home a happier one, a reminder of fond and special memories.
I would love to know my designs are used in people’s lives as an expression of lifestyle and choice. This is why I try and create imaginative pieces that everyone can enjoy. Ultimately I hope some of the fun I had creating the designs can in turn bring some fun and colour into your life too.
